Strangest play ever helps fuel Cubs comeback against Cardinals

The season is only three games old and already we've seen quite possibly the two strangest plays of 2017.

Two days after Stephen Piscotty's painful trip around the bases, Matt Szczur led off the seventh inning by reaching first on a drop third strike...that never dropped.

Yadier Molina blocked Brett Cecil's pitch in the dirt, but the ball inexplicably stuck to Molina's chest protector. Not in the protector. Actually on it:

That's just...hmm...

As Len Kasper and Jim Deshaies said on the CSN broadcast, Molina will likely have to answer some questions about what substance was on his chest protector that made the ball stick in such a way. Was it pine tar to help get grip on the ball on a cold day?

But the Cubs certainly won't complain. This is proof that sometimes the ball just bounces your way.

Jon Jay followed up with a walk before Kyle Schwarber did this:

That three-run shot handed the Cubs a 5-4 lead. They later added another run in the seventh on a Ben Zobrist groundout.
