ARIZONA FALL LEAGUEMesa Solar Sox Cubs
The trio of Cubs pitchers that took the mound for Mesa Wednesday night did not shine in the Solar Sox 9-6 loss to Phoenix. In fact, it was Jake Muyco, Chris Carpenter and Kyle Smit that allowed all of the Desert Dog runs.

Muyco started and went 3 23 innings, allowing four runs on five hits. Hes allowed runs in each of his starts, giving up three or more runs in four of those efforts. His ERA is 8.85 in 20 13 innings while the opposition is hitting .400 against him.

Carpenter fared slightly better, surrendering two runs in 1 23 innings on three hits. After spending the majority of the season as a starter with Double-A Tennessee, for whom he was 8-6 with a 3.16 ERA, Carpenter has pitched to a 5.68 ERA in 12 23 AFL relief innings.

Smith, meanwhile, took the loss after allowing three runs in 1 13 innings. Hes allowed four runs over his last 2 13 innings, pushing his AFL ERA to 4.76. He had given up only two runs in his first nine innings. Infielder Ryan Flaherty was 1-fr-5 with a run scored.

Honda Road Ahead: Blackhawks look to get back on track to close regular season

Pat Boyle and Steve Konroyd break down the Blackhawks' upcoming schedule in the latest edition of the Blackhawks Road Ahead, presented by Chicagoland and NW Indiana Honda dealers.

There are less than two weeks left in the NHL regular season and teams are jockeying for playoff seeding.

The Blackhawks have the best record in the Western Conference with 103 points. The Blackhawks' next two opponents, the Pittsburgh Penguins and the Columbus Blue Jackets, also have 103 points. Washington leads the league with 106 points.

Wednesday the Hawks will travel to Pittsburgh. Two days later they host the Blue Jackets.

After that, the Blackhawks take on the Boston Bruins on Sunday. Boston is in line for one of the final playoff spots in the Eastern Conference.

"There's no easy games from here on out." Konroyd said in the video. "Even teams on the outside, looking in are playing for contracts next year."
