Sox Drawer: Frank Being Frank

It's never a good sign when your team has only one player batting over .300 and it's the back-up catcher.

That's the White Sox reality right now. A team hitting .220, 28th in the majors. And if it wasn't for Donny Lucy's sparkling .500 average (in 6 at-bats) it would be worse.

But I interrupt your White Sox panic attack to deliver the following message:

It's April. Almost May. But still April.

Or as a surprisingly calm Kenny Williams said on Monday "it's just 13 games." There are 149 left.

And if the sometimes angry, occasionally surly Sox GM is this relaxed with his team buried in last place right now, you can be too.

Well, maybe not relaxed. How about cautiously optimistic with a heavy dose of patience.

Before Monday's game against Tampa, the Sox had a visitor in the clubhouse razzing guys in an effort to lighten the mood.

Frank Thomas.

He was acting as friend, cheerleader, and stand-up comic. That's right. Big Frank Thomas doing his best Don Rickles impression.

Eventually A.J. Pierzynski had seen enough, yelling at the Sox legend and CSN analyst, "Get the @& out of here! No media allowed!!"

Here's Frank and I talking about the Sox struggles before the game. Thomas has been through them before. Good wisdom here from the Big Hurt.
