John Danks continued to feel soreness in his left shoulder Friday and did not throw his scheduled side session before game one of the White Sox weekend series vs. the Dodgers in Los Angeles.
"He just doesn't feel right," White Sox manager Robin Ventura told reporters before the game. "That's one of those things where you extend it and make sure he's healthy first."
Danks spoke by phone to the team doctor and will visit with him when the Sox return to Chicago Monday to begin round two of the Crosstown Cup series against the Cubs.
"We just don't want to rush him," Ventura said.
For now, this means Jose Quintana will stay in the starting rotation and pitch Sunday's series finale in LA. The White Sox announced their probable starters against the Cubs will be Jake Peavy Monday, Gavin Floyd on Tuesday and Chris Sale on Wednesday.
Danks has been on the disabled list since May 20.
