White Sox give Jose Quintana something he hasn't had all season

Jose Quintana has become infamous for the lack of run support the White Sox have given him over the years.

So when the White Sox scored four runs before Quintana even took the mound on Friday, it was cause for celebration. The White Sox scored four or fewer runs for the whole game in seven of Quintana's 13 starts entering the game in Toronto.

He entered the game with the lowest run support average (2.65) in the majors. The White Sox scored three more in the second inning, another run in the third and a three-run home run by Melky Cabrera in the fifth took things to nearly unprecedented levels of run support for Quintana.

In 13 previous Quintana starts this season, the White Sox scored eight or more runs just once. That was a 9-3 win against the Padres on May 14. That game may have been the peak of Quintana's bad luck though. The White Sox scored eight runs in the bottom of the eighth, after Quintana left the game so he received a no-decision.

This is the most run support Quintana has had this season, but it's not the most for his career. Quintana has had 11 or more runs scored in games he started five times, and even one of those was a no-decision when the Sox scored nine runs after Quintana left the game.

Fans on Twitter had some fun with Quintana actually getting some run support:
