The White Sox were busy as the 2016 international signing period window opened Saturday morning.

According to Baseball America's International Signing Tracker, the White Sox signed three of their Top 40 international prospects.

"This year’s 2016 White Sox signing class is very deep across a number of positions," White Sox special assistant to the general manager, international operations Marco Paddy said in a press release. "This is a big, physical and athletic group of young men who have impressed us both on and off the field as we have gotten to know them.  Every one of these young men is a tribute to his family, and we are excited to have them begin their careers with the White Sox."

The biggest addition for the White Sox is Dominican Republic outfielder Josue Guerrero (No. 33 prospect), the nephew of nine-time MLB All-Star Vladimir Guerrero. The 16-year-old Guerrero is also the younger brother of Gabby Guerrero, an outfielder in the Arizona Diamondbacks farm system. His deal with the White Sox is reportedly worth $1.1 million, according to Baseball America.

“He is a very similar player to his uncle at this same age in terms of his physical makeup, his body, his swing, his tools,” Paddy said. “I think, like several of these players, he has a chance to be a very special player.”

The other two Top 40 prospects the White Sox signed are Dominican Republic outfielder Luis Mieses (No. 36) for $428,000 and Dominican Republic outfielder Anderson Cosma (No. 37 prospect) for $450,000.

“Luis is a very good, very athletic power outfielder who can really swing the bat,” Paddy said.  “He is a natural hitter with a plus arm.”

“Anderson is big kid who is a very talented left-handed hitter,” Paddy said.

The White Sox also signed outfielder Anthony Coronado, infielder Lenyn Sosa, catcher Kleyder Sanchez, right-handed pitchers Jenderson Caraballo and Brayan Herrera and left-handed pitcher Hector Acosta.
