White Sox morning roundup

From yesterday:

Brent Morel went 1-4 with a strikeout against San Diego -- but more importantly, he didn't take a walk. That makes it an even 50 trips to the plate in spring training without the third baseman drawing a free pass, which is a concerning trend given his results last year.

The White Sox lost that game to San Diego by a score of 13-2, with Dylan Axelrod failing to put together a great outing results-wise. The best bet is, right now, Zach Stewart has the inside edge to win a long relief spot in the bullpen, although there's still plenty of time for that to change. Gavin Floyd was roughed up in the Sox other game, allowing six runs in his final inning of work against Colorado.

The new food options at U.S. Cellular Field sound awesome. Among the new offerings is a hot dog with pastrami bacon. Yes. Yes. Yes.

Various projections have the White Sox pegged to be a mediocre-to-bad team. That doesn't mean they definitely will sit in the 77-win range, but it's the most likely outcome of the 2012 season.

This one was fun to compile: There have been 18 home runs by American League pitchers since the designated hitter was established in 1973. Click the link to see who joins Mark Buehrle and Jon Garland on the list.

Omar Vizquel will make the Blue Jays. Prost!

Around the division: Progressive Field is going green, the Indians released Cristian Guzman, Luis Mendoza and Danny Duffy will round of Kansas City's rotation, Nick Nelson runs down Minnesota's starting pitching and Joel Zumaya's going to "give it one more shot."
