Coming into Wednesday, Gavin Floyd had a 1.26 ERA and a 265 strikeout-to-walk ratio in his last four starts. But he allowed a season-high seven runs, including five on home runs off the bats of scuffling Angels Albert Pujols and Vernon Wells, as Los Angeles beat the White Sox 7-2. Dayan Viciedo looked great, though, going 3-4 with a home run and a fantastic throw from left to nail Mike Trout at second.
Sad news as Kevin Hickey, who pitched for the Sox from 1981-1983 and joined the team's coaching staff in 2003, passed away at the age of 56. Chuck Garfien wrote about the life of a "classic underdog" while he, Bill Melton, Frank Thomas and Hawk Harrelson, as well as Ron Kittle and Don Cooper. remembered the life of Hickey:

The Angels' offensive outburst, led by Pujols and Wells, kinda threw a wrench in this comparison, but hey, the Sox had their offensive success here and there last season.
