White Sox morning roundup

From yesterday:

Justin Masterson shut down the White Sox while Jhan Marinez and Donnie Veal were lit up in a 12-3 loss to the Indians. Every White Sox pitcher except Leyson Septimo -- who threw just 13 of an inning -- and Jose Quintana allowed at least one run, but the news wasn't all bad: A.J. Pierzynski homered for the first time this spring.

Dayan Viciedo went 1-4 with two strikeouts, prompting the question of if he could begin 2012 in Charlotte to be asked. I don't think he will, but it's nonetheless an interesting discussion.

Jake Peavy missed a few of his NCAA Tournament picks yesterday, including losing a Sweet 16 team in Wichita State.

Speaking of the tournament, the Minnesota Twins may have had a hand in UNC-Asheville's loss to Syracuse.

This is a little late, but well worth your time: James at White Sox Observer previewed the Sox catchers, infielders and outfielders.

Around the division: Scott Baker ran into some elbow troubles, the Indians traded for a guy they traded away in the offseason, the Royals signed Alcides Escobar to long-term contract and fellow Mizzou alum Max Scherzer has a bracket that would give me a heart attack before being the greatest thing ever.
