The White Sox announced their first wave of September call-ups on Thursday.

Catcher Kevan Smith and right-handed reliever Juan Minaya were recalled from Triple-A Charlotte. The White Sox also announced that starting pitcher Miguel Gonzalez will begin a rehab assignment with Charlotte.

The 26-year-old Smith had a slash line of .219/.291/.399 with eight home runs and 24 RBI in 49 games with Charlotte in 2016. Smith was recalled by the White Sox on April 24 and was scheduled to make his MLB debut against the Toronto Blue Jays, but was scratched prior to the game. Following the game, he went on the DL with sacroiliac joint dysfunction in his back. Smith, who has no MLB experience, has a career slash line of .282/.359/.448 with 56 home runs and 314 RBI in 519 minor-league games.
