Don’t let the Kane County Cougars’ sub-.500 record fool you. There’s still plenty of talent on this team.
On Wednesday, the Cougars had six players, P Nathan Dorris, P Felix Pena, OF Bijan Rademacher, P Tayler Scott, DH Rock Shoulders and 1B Dan Vogelbach, named to the Western Division All-Star team, the most since 2009. The Single-A Midwest League All-Star Game will be held on June 18th and be hosted by the Dayton Dragons.
Vogelbach will be in the starting line-up for the West as their designated hitter. The Cubs’ 2011 second-round pick boasts a .282 batting average with nine home runs and 39 RBIs.
The 21-year old Shoulders leads the Midwest League with 12 home runs this season. The 25th-round selection from 2011 is second on the team with 37 RBIs.
Rademacher, who hasn’t played since the middle of May, leads the team in batting average with .320 for players with over 100 plate appearances.
Scott, a South-African native, sports a 2-2 record on the mound and has only allowed three home runs this season.
Dorris leads the Cougars with three saves this year and has a 2.52 ERA.
Pena has yet to lose a start this season, recording two wins and a 2.11 ERA in seven appearances. The Dominican Republic native signed with the Cubs in 2009 as a non-drafted free agent.
