The Cubs continue to be sellers as MLB's July 31 non-waiver trade deadline is fast approaching. On Monday another deal became official as the Cubs sent Scott Hairston to the Washington Nationals for minor-league pitcher Ivan Pineyro.
Hairston, an Illinois native, signed a two-year $5 million contract with the Cubs in the offseason. In 99 games this season, Hairston hit .172 with eight home runs and 19 RBIs. He delivered a clutch pinch-hit homer in Chicago's 4-3 extra-inning victory over the Pirates Sunday afternoon.

The Nationals outfield is set with Bryce Harper, Denard Span and Jayson Werth, so Hairston will likely find himself coming off the bench in Washington.
