After being ejected during Sunday's 6-1 loss to the Cardinals, Cubs manager Dale Sveum ripped home plate umpire Phil Cuzzi's call that eventually led to his ejection.
In the seventh inning, Cubs third baseman Donnie Murphy checked his swing on an Adam Wainwright offering. Cuzzi did not appeal to the first base umpire and called Murphy out on strikes on his own.

"Easily the worst check swing call I've ever seen," Sveum said after the game. "That's why the other umpires are there, to give him help."
Replay showed that Murphy did not swing at Wainwright's pitch and that Sveum's disagreement with the call was correct.
Murphy's strikeout was one of 11 for Wainwright on the day. The Cardinals took two of three from the Cubs this weekend.
The Cubs have not won a home series since the July 5-7 series against the Pittsburgh Pirates.
