Turns out Carlos Zambrano won't be a member of the Long Island Ducks after all.

The former Cubs right-hander headed to South Beach in 2012 after spending 11 seasons on the North Side. But after just a single season with the Marlins, no MLB team was willing to give him another chance, and reports began circulating last week that he'd be joining the Independent League.

But as of Wednesday, plans for Zambrano changed again as the 31-year-old was signed to a minor-league contract with the Phillies.

Last season, Zambrano went 7-10 with a 4.49 ERA in 132 1/3 innings with the Marlins.
