What an honor for a trio of Comcast SportsNet producers.

CSN's Ryan McGuffey, Sarah Lauch and David Kaplan were honored Sunday by the Pitch & Hit Club of Chicago for their work producing "5 Outs...," the documentary chronicling the 2003 Chicago Cubs.

"The backbone of the whole deal is Ryan and Sarah," Kaplan said. "They were amazing. What they were able to put together with the backing of our bosses and to turn '5 Outs...' into what it became, it's unbelievable. What an honor."

The documentary was honored with the Jerome Holtzman Award, named for the legendary Chicago sportswriter.

"It's a great show, and it certainly was. I was able to talk about it from the Florida Marlins perspective, from my perspective," said CSN Cubs analyst Todd Hollandsworth, who was also honored at Sunday's banquet as the sportscaster of the year. "You realize — I live in Chicago, I raised my kids here, I live here year-round — how much we love baseball, how much we talk about baseball and how much these Cubs fans are still waiting for that championship to come their way."
