The Cubs made a minor move Monday, claiming right-hander Brett Marshall off waivers.
Marshall, 23, was drafted by the New York Yankees in the sixth round of the 2008 MLB Draft and made his big-league debut in 2013, pitching 12 innings with a 4.50 ERA in three games.
In six minor-league seasons spanning 115 appearances (113 starts), Marshall boasts a 4.07 ERA with a 1.36 WHIP and 7.2 K/9. He was 7-10 with a 5.13 ERA and 1.53 WHIP in 25 starts for the Yankees' Triple-A affiliate last season.
The Cubs also lost right-hander Liam Hendriks, whom the Baltimore Orioles claimed off waivers Monday. The Cubs had picked him up on waivers Dec. 13.
