In an effort to aid tornado relief efforts in Central Illinois, the Cubs are encouraging fans and Wrigleyville residents to donate non-perishable food items and supplies for the cause.
From 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Thursday and 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Friday afternoon, people may drop off their donated items in Wrigley Field's Purple Lot which is located just west of the stadium between Waveland and Addison.
The Cubs will be working with the Heroes Memorial Foundation and the donations will be driven by a group of volunteers to Peoria on Friday.
Items that are needed include tote bags, plastic trash cans, plastic storage bins, gloves, granola bars, canned food items, bottled water, large garbage bags, toiletries, buckets, sponges, mops, towels, baby formula, diapers, flashlights, batteries, manual can openers, duct tape, toilet paper, paper towels, female hygiene products and school supplies.
If you aren't able to make it to Wrigley Field, the Cubs are encouraging people to visit RedCross.org, call 1-800-RED-CROSS or text REDCROSS at 90999 to make a $10 donation.
