The trade deadline is nearing, and the Cubs also will have to deal with a few tough teams from the NL West. Check out what Comcast SportsNet's David Kaplan and Todd Hollandsworth had to say about the Cubs' upcoming matchups in the Cubs Road Ahead, presented by Chicagoland and Northwest Indiana Honda Dealers.

This week the Cubs will square off against the Colorado Rockies before heading to the West Coast to face the red-hot Los Angeles Dodgers. And before they head out to Hollywood, our own Holly believes the North Siders could have some success against a struggling Colorado bunch. The Rockies have battled the injury bug most of the season and have the second worst record in the National League (behind only the Cubs), meaning the North Siders have a chance to steal a few victories.

"The Colorado Rockies are in a very, very bad spot where they're trying to piece together their future, not their present," he said. "Right now they've got Tulowitzki on the DL, a lot of guys dealing with things, not a lot of pitching and just a lot of struggles out there."

But things couldn't be more different for the Dodgers. Led by Cuban sensation Yasiel Puig, L.A. finds itself atop the National League West behind some stellar pitching and a top-to-bottom lineup.

"Yasiel Puig, boy, he has become a show. He has really turned it up offensively, he has become the guy in that lineup you're certainly going to have to know where he is at all times," Hollandsworth said. "He's become a game-changer for them."
