In a recent poll conducted by ESPN's Jim Bowden, 117 players were asked to vote who they believe is the best players manager in the MLB.

No. 1 on that list? Joe Maddon.

"It's a humbling thought. It really is," Maddon told Bowden via Skype on Friday morning. "I've always thought peer acceptance is the highest form of acceptance, not necessarily my peers in a sense, but to have the players think that or believe that is really phenomenal."

The Cubs skipper accumulated 35 percent of the votes, with San Francisco Giants manager Bruce Bochy ranking second on the list at 18 percent.

Maddon was also voted most creative manager by executives, scouts, and coaches.

After all, who else would think to bring in a magician to loosen up the clubhouse and help break the Cubs' losing streak?
