Marlon Byrd turned a solid 2013 season into a big day payday.
The former Cubs All-Star outfielder signed a two-year, $16 million deal to play for the Philadelphia Phillies.
Byrd was infamously traded last season from the New York Mets to the Pittsburgh Pirates the same day the Mets had a t-shirt promotion for him. He hit .291/.336/.511 with 35 doubles, 24 homers, 88 RBI and 75 runs scored last season. He also helped the Pirates reach the postseason for the first time in 21 years.
Byrd spent four seasons with the Phillies from 2002-2005.
