Castro is one member of a Cubs infield crowded with young talent.

After struggling early last season, Castro was moved from shortstop to second base midway through the year, and his bat came alive. His batting average hit a season-low .233 on July 26 and still sat at .235 on Aug. 12, but from there he posted a .358/.379/.597 slash line over his final 45 games of the regular season, picking up 48 hits, 12 doubles and six home runs over that stretch, scoring 18 runs and driving in 23.

In just six major league seasons, the 25-year-old Castro is a three-time All Star who's just nine hits away from 1,000 on his career. Appearing in 891 career games and getting 3,524 career at-bats, he has a .281/.321/.404 slash line with 186 double, 62 home runs, 363 RBIs and 391 runs scored.
