Tony Comment
1 Cardinals Red Sox

JJ: Playoffs X-Factor: Carlos Beltran wasn't great this year (2.0 WAR, 24 HR), but he has a knack for playoff theatrics.

Tony: Playoffs X-Factor: Underrated star Daniel Nava, who had .831 OPS in regular season.

2 Red Sox Cardinals

JJ: Playoffs X-Factor: John Lackey's surprisingly-good season (3.52 ERA, 29 starts) could key a deep Boston rotation.

Tony: Playoffs X-Factor: Matt Carpenter. If he slumps, offense will suffer.
3 A's A's

JJ: Playoffs X-Factor: Josh Donaldson (7.7 WAR) can become a household name with a big postseason.

Tony: Playoffs X-Factor: Coco Crisp. Showed surprising power (22).
4 Braves Braves

JJ: Playoffs X-Factor: Evan Gattis brings a big bat (21 HR), but could his shaky play in left come back to hurt them?

Tony: Playoffs X-Factor: Brian McCann. Will this be his last hurrah with Braves?
5 Pirates Tigers

JJ: Playoffx X-Factor: Getting the wild card start is Francisco Liriano, who's come back from the dead for a great season (3.02 ERA, 9.11 K/9).

Tony: Playoffs X-Factor: Joaquin Benoit. Can he retain regular season success?
6 Tigers Indians

JJ: Playoffs X-Factor: If Justin Verlander keeps throwing well (2.27 ERA, 48 K, 10 BB in 6 September starts), could be the toughest team to beat.

Tony: Playoffs X-Factor: Asdrubal Cabrera. Had a disappointing season, can he rebound in playoffs?
7 Dodgers Dodgers

JJ: Playoffs X-Factor: Because Tony went with Yasiel Puig, I'll say Vin Scully, who's calling some of their games and could call a World Series.

Tony: Playoffs X-Factor: Yasiel Puig. Because of course.
8 Indians Pirates

JJ: Playoffs X-Factor: If Justin Masterson, who topped baseball with 3 shutouts, can close/solve their ninth-inning woes, watch out.

Tony: Playoffs X-Factor: Pedro Alvarez. McCutchen needs help from lineup.
9 Rays Reds

JJ: Playoffs X-Factor: Wil Myers looks like a lock for rookie of the year (.293/.354/.478, 13 HR), but can he keep hitting in the playoffs?

Tony: Playoffs X-Factor: Billy Hamilton. Could be huge in one-game playoff.
10 Reds Rays

Tony: Playoffs X-Factor: James Loney/David DeJesus -- veterans with something to prove.
