The Cubs placed veteran catcher David Ross on the 7-day disabled list with a mild concussion after taking a couple foul balls off the facemask Wednesday night in New York.
Cubs outfielder Jorge Soler is close to finishing up his rehab assignment, and the Cubs have not ruled out a possible return from the disabled list Sunday.
The Cubs have had their offensive outbursts this year but recently the North Siders haven't been able to string a series of big games together as they fell to the Marlins at Wrigley on Friday, 2-1.

Team talk

While it would be a year too late, the Cubs feel Ron Santo's legacy needs to be completed by his induction into the Hall of Fame. The verdict on that will be announced Monday morning.

Dealing with speculation of being traded for the last six years, Matt Garza hears the rumors and tries to ignore them. He's open to whatever, but his first preference would be to remain a Cub.

In his time in Boston, Theo Epstein knew he had to compete with the Yankees, it's what drove him to helping the Red Sox win the World Series twice. He's hoping to have the same success in Chicago.

Dale Sveum will bring former Milwaukee Brewers pitching coach Chris Bosio with him to Wrigley Field as the Cubs hired Bosio to be their new pitching coach on Friday.
  • 3y
The Milwaukee Brewers are starting to resort to their backup plan for offense assuming Prince Fielder winds up leaving and made the first step by reaching out to Aramis Ramirez.

The Cubs traded away five quality young players last winter to acquire Matt Garza. Now Theo Epstein is facing a tough question: Is Garza a pitcher to build around or to be dealt for a number of promising players?
  • 3y
Now that the Cubs spent 10 million on David DeJesus, does that mean former first round draft pick and top prospect Tyler Colvin will be thrown to the curb?
