Cubs

After the Cubs designated Darwin Barney for assignment Tuesday, general manager Jed Hoyer made one thing clear in reference to Arismendy Alcantara's development: "It's time for Mendy to play."
The Cubs announced on Tuesday that Darwin Barney has been designated for assignment as Emilio Bonifacio comes off the 15-day disabled list.
Jorge Soler has only played in 117 professional games since coming over to America, but the 22-year-old Cuban outfielder is settling into a groove with the Cubs.
