Cubs

The Cubs finally broke their silence, firing manager Rick Renteria one week after Joe Maddon opted out of his contract with the Tampa Bay Rays, becoming a coveted free agent.
The Cubs aren’t planning on a splashy two-for-one news conference. Joe Maddon’s contract won’t be tied to a Theo Epstein extension.
Joe Maddon's expected arrival at Wrigley Field not only boosts the talented young prospects the Cubs have but also makes them a more desirable destination for veteran free agents this offseason.

The Cubs staked Ryan Dempster out to an early 5-0 lead with runs in the first, second and fourth innings and even though they were shut down the rest of the way, it was enough for a nail-biting 5-4 victory over the Astros.
