Cubs

While the Rays and Red Sox were busy attempting to deal their aces minutes before Thursday's trade deadline, the Cubs sat back and watch, having made their big deal four weeks earlier.
As the MLB trade deadline came to a close, the Cubs traded Emilio Bonifacio and James Russell to the Atlanta Braves. In return, the Cubs acquired minor league catcher Victor Caratini from Atlanta.
Jake Arrieta allowed just one run on three hits, striking out seven as the Cubs defeated the Colorado Rockies, 3-1, at Wrigley Field on Thursday. Arrieta moved his record to 6-2 on the season.
