Despite a 1-7 record and a 6.11 ERA, Edwin Jackson isn't in jeopardy of losing his spot in the rotation, but manager Dale Sveum didn't exactly take the heat off his high-priced starter.
With two players surrounding him in the infield signing long-term deals the last two seasons, second baseman Darwin Barney is left wondering if he's part of the Cubs 'Core.'
Some stats indicate the Cubs should have a better record than their 18-27 start, but Dale Sveum and Co. know there's no quick fixes. Top prospects like Javier Baez are still years away from "The Show."
