CUBSDaytona A
The Cubs remained undefeated and atop the Florida State League standings Tuesday night, toppling Clearwater, 5-1, at Jackie Robinson Stadium.

Robert Whitenack, who earned his first victory of the season, was as sharp as he was in his season-opening performance at Brevard County. He allowed only an unearned run over six innings and struck out a dozen. Whitenack didnt walk a batter and allowed only one hit, a one-out triple by Alan Schoenberger in the sixth inning.

Whitenack fell victim to an error and his own wildness in the third inning, both of which led to Clearwaters only run. Troy Hanzawa reached on a Junior Lake error, taking second before moving to third on a subsequent grounder to Lake. Whitenack then uncorked a wild pitch, allowing Hanzawa to score.

Still, he was virtually un-hittable all evening, holding Joe Savery, who entered the game hitting close to .800, hitless. A trio of relievers preserved the victory without allowing a hit over the final three innings.

The Cubs broke the game open in their half of the sixth, scoring three times off Jarred Cosart and Ebelin Lugo. Logan Watkins singled and scored after stealing second and advancing home on a pair of throwing errors to give the Cubs a 2-1 lead. Jae-Hoon Ha had three hits and an RBI.
Peoria A
Red-hot Rubio Silva extended his season-long hitting streak to six games Tuesday night, leading Peoria by Burlington, 8-5.

Silva had three hits, scored three times and drove in a pair, pushing his average to .370. The Cubs signed the Cuban free agent in December after starring for the Cuban Junior National Team. His two-run double in the fifth sparked a four-run inning and helped knot the score at 5-5.

He singled two innings later and scored what would prove to be the winning run on D.J. Fitzgeralds single.

Hayden Simpson made his second career start and last years top pick allowed five runs three earned on eight hits in five innings. He fanned two before Erik Jokisch tossed four shutout innings, striking out three and allowing one hit, to earn the victory.
WHITE SOX Kannapolis A
The Intimidators used a late power surge Tuesday night in a 9-6 victory at Delmarva to run their winning streak to four games.

Kyle Eveland and Juan Silverio accounted for three of Kannapolis four seventh-inning runs by cracking a pair of homers. Silverios was a solo shot while Eveland brought in a pair with his bomb as the Intimidators erased a 6-5 deficit.

Kevin Moran started and allowed all six runs on six hits in 4 13 innings. But Paul Burnside came on and pitched two-hit ball, earning his first win. He hasnt allowed a run in 5 23 innings this year.
