Drew Crawford has torn labrum, will miss the rest of the season

Northwestern forward Drew Crawford will miss the remainder of the 2012-'13 season after being diagnosed with a torn labrum that will require surgery on his right shoulder.
The 6-foot-5 wing is eligible for a medical hardship waiver with the injury coming this early in the season, so he may have the option to return for a fifth season in 2013.
"Drew aggravated a previous injury in early September and attempted to play through it, but it just hasn't responded as we all would have liked," head coach Bill Carmody said in a Northwestern press release. "While it obviously hurts to lose a player of Drew's caliber, it provides an opportunity for his teammates to step up and contribute."
Crawford had started all 10 games for the Wildcats, and ranked second in scoring (13.5 points) and fourth in rebounds (4.6) and is a major blow to Northwestern's chances at securing its first ever NCAA Tournament berth.
The Wildcats are 7-3 this year, with three contests remaining before opening their Big Ten schedule against Michigan on Jan. 3.
