On Thursday morning, Major League Soccer announced Chicago Fire forward Mike Magee was voted the Volkswagen MLS Most Valuable Player for the 2013 season.

Magee was acquired by the Fire in a trade on May 25 from the L.A. Galaxy. In 22 games with the team, Magee registered 15 goals to go along with four assists.  

The 11-year veteran was recently named to his first career MLS Best XI.

Magee, 29, became the first player in club history to be named MLS MVP.

He was also voted MLS Player of the Month by the North American Soccer Reporters (NASR) for the months of March and June.

The award was voted on by media, MLS players and MLS club management based on regular season performance. The other two finalists were L.A. Galaxy forward Robbie Keane and Montreal Impact forward Marco Di Vaio.

Magee will receive the award Thursday afternoon.
