2012 NFL Draft Capsule: WR Stephen Hill

Share

Stephen Hill (WR), Georgia Tech
6-5206 lbs.
2011 Stats:
28 REC, 820 YDS, 5 TD
Projection:
Late first-round

Strengths:
Hill showcases good body control when tracking the football and can extend his arms and make acrobatic plays on the ball. He has natural initial explosion and can change directions, allowing him to side step a defender with the ball in his hands. Also, Hill exhibits good power when asked to break a tackle in the bubble screen game. (National Football Post)

Weaknesses:
He isn't a very polished route runner because of the offensive scheme that Georgia Tech ran. Hill was asked to just run vertical routes where he can track the football. One area of his game he isn't real sharp in is rounding offdrifting in and out of his breaks. (National Football Post)
Fit for the Bears:
Despite trading for Brandon Marshall and signing Devin Thomas and Eric Weems, the Bears are expected to select a wide receiver at some point in the NFL Draft. Lovie Smith was on hand to watch Hill's Pro Day and dined with the explosive wideout later that night. Hill doesn't just have the height NFL teams look for, the former Yellow Jacket posted the fastest 40-yard dash time of any wide receiver at the NFL Combine. Clearly the interest is there on Chicago's end, and I wouldn't be surprised to see the team grab him at No. 19 in the first round.
