After 2012, contract issues could be problematic for Bears

While the Bears and Pro Bowl running back Matt Forte try to work out a long-term contract extension before Monday's deadline to avoid the franchise tag deal, the Bears do have serious contract concerns moving forward with several starters besides Forte.

WindyCityGridiron.com breaks down the potentially troubling scenario the Bears will face both in 2013 and 2014 when 17 of their current 22 starters will have their contracts expire -- the most of any team in the NFL during this two-year window.

The only starters signed beyond 2014 are Julius Peppers, Lance Briggs, Brandon Marshall, Gave Carimi and Chris Conte. That leaves notable players such as Jay Cutler, Brian Urlacher, Charles Tillman and Devin Hester as future free agents either after this coming season or the following season.

The Bears currently have just about 13 million in cap space for 2013 and over 50 million in 2014.

Of the players listed above, who must the Bears re-sign before they hit free agency? Is there anyone not named above you want signed immediately? Let us know by commenting below.
