Bears tweak roster with three cuts

Rookie minicamps dont allow practices in full equipment or pitting players against each other in contact. They do allow evaluations, however, of undrafted free agents and tryout players with a purpose in mind.

Were trying to find a ruby, said offensive coordinator Mike Tice. If we can find ourselves a ruby -- someone we can polish up and turn into a nice shiny stone -- that wouldnt be a bad thing either.

The Bears found seven possible rubies in the form of players in for a tryout and they signed those on Sunday, including a guard, tackle and tight end. To create roster space, three former ruby hopefuls were waived on Monday: tackle Levi Horn, tight end Andre Smith and guard Reggie Stephens.
