MINNEAPOLIS -- Going into Sunday's game against the Vikings, Brandon Marshall only needed 10 catches to cement himself into the Bears' record books. Breaking the record was a forgone conclusion. The only suspense was how soon it would happen.
Marshall etched his name in Bears' history with a 16-yard touchdown catch -- Marshall's 101 receptions broke Marty Booker's single-season receiving record of 100 set in 2001 -- with 1:48 to go in the fourth quarter.
But, breaking Booker's record in a losing effort wasn't the way Marshall envisioned it.

"It sucks today," Marshall told CSNChicago.com. "You want to feel so good doing those types of things after a win so I can't even think about that."
Each game this season, Marshall has been a difference maker. Looking at the statistics against Minnesota, -- 10 receptions for 160 yards and a touchdown -- you would believe he had a dominating effort, but in Marshall's mind he could have been better.
"We all let the team down, I dropped that third down, I have to make that play, that was a momentum play," a frustrated Marshall said. If you move the chains the game is probably different. I have to do better, I let my teammates down today. I have to make those plays There was a few plays that fourth down, Jay Cutler put it on me, right on the money and I dropped it. We are in this situation, we have to step-up. Backs against the wall now, we have to win out.
Sunday's defeat put the Bears 12 game behind the Packers for first place in the NFC North. Coincidentally, Green Bay will be in town next Sunday and that's what Marshall is focused on.

"The thing that sticks out today is that we have three games left, we're still in the playoffs and if we get to the playoffs and achieve our goals, after the season all of that stuff is going to feel so great," Marshall told CSNChicago.com. "Right now my focus is just making it to the playoffs and winning."
