New Bears wide receiver Brandon Marshall said this week that he was confident that the truth would come out with respect to an incident in New York City and when it does, I think I will be sitting in a good place.
That good place appears to be at hand.
Police have not officially closed their investigation of the case in which a woman claimed that Marshall struck her in the face outside a nightclub a few days before he was traded from the Miami Dolphins to the Bears.

But that is expected as early as Friday and, while the lack of a criminal case does not preclude the NFL from imposing discipline based on available evidence, the league is not likely to suspend or penalize Marshall when he is exonerated.
We will review the court record, NFL Senior Vice President Greg Aiello said via email to CSNChicago.com, but if no charges are filed we would not expect there to be any basis for league discipline.
