OTA updates on Carimi, Jennings, and Briggs talks Forte

OTAingAs expected, Gabe Carimi is back as the right tackle with the No. 1 offense. The split of reps between JMarcus Webb and Chris Williams at left tackle with the No. 1s is fairly even. Dont expect a position decision there before perhaps even the third preseason game. Indeed, a likely scenario will be to give each a preseason start, and the third-game starter then rates as the favorite for Opening Day.
Taking a diveIt may be only voluntary offseason team activities, but dont tell Tim Jennings. The short-ish cornerback provided the defensive highlight on Wednesday when he laid out horizontally to make a diving interception on a Jay Cutler pass.Jennings was a 15-game starter in 2011 but the mindset now, after the Bears signed veterans Kelvin Hayden and Jonathan Wilhite in the offseason, is simple:Keep competing. Nothing is set in stone, Jennings said. They already told me a heads up that Im still going to go out there and compete for a starting job. So I have to compete each and every day and improve, and let the coaches know that if Im their guy, theyre going to make a decision, but I want to make it tough for them."Forte fortunesRunning back with the No. 1 offense still belongs to Michael Bush with Matt Forte still without a long-term contract or a signed franchise-tag tender. But Forte has the support of teammates, including one who himself had experience with the franchise tag in 2007.Were all grown men, linebacker Lance Briggs said. We know that everyone here, individually, we all have to do what we have to do. So whatever Matt has to do, I completely understand.Hes not letting me down. Hes not letting any his teammates down. ... Hes come out here and put his life and his mind and body on the field for all of us. Hes done a lot of thrills for the city of Chicago and everyone has seen what hes capable of doing and what he means to our team.
