Wikipedia jumps the gun on Trestman

All those teachers in school who told you Wikipedia was an unreliable source and shouldn't be used to fact-check?
If you want to know who's replacing Lovie Smith, your teachers were right.
The self-editing online encyclopedia jumped the gun on Jimmy Johnson's reports earlier this morning, as somone -- it literally could have been anyone -- took Johnson's tweets as fact (or a Packers fan wanted to humor himself) and listed Trestman as the Bears head coach. They even put the Bears' colors in his sidebar information box.

Trestman, of course, has not been named the Bears head coach. He may not even be a finalist, though Bears Insider John "Moon" Mullin says he's likely one of four candidates the Bears are targeting.
In the world of 247 journalism, Johnson's tweets sparked a wildfire across social media and, as is often the case, Wikipedia jumped in on the action.
Update: Trestman also was "named" the head coach of the Green Bay Packers and Calgary Flames by Wikipedia "editors," though everything has been put back into place and (for now) Trestman is back as head coach of the Montreal Alouettes.
