According to reports, the Blackhawks waived goalie Alexander Salak Friday. Salak, 25, was the favorite to serve as the backup goalie to Corey Crawford in 2011-12 before Ray Emery beat him out in the preseason.

Salak went on to play 21 games for the Rockford IceHogs and compiled a 6-10-0 record with a .903 save percentage and 2.69 goals-against average.

Originally a member of the Florida Panthers, Salak appeared in two NHL games in 2009-10 but never played in one regular season contest for the Hawks. Chicago acquired him on Feb. 9, 2011, as part of the deal for Michael Frolik as Jack Skille, Hugh Jessiman and David Pacan went south.
