Blackhawks center questions retirement

Brendon Morrison's run in Chicago could mark the end of his NHL career.

The 37-year-old center was traded from the Flames to the Blackhawks over the All-Star break, but his excitement to play in Chicago sure didn't last long. Morrison was a scratch in 21 of 32 games and never played beyond the team's fourth line. He appeared in three of the Blackhawks' six playoff games, scoring one goal.

Now he faces an uncertain future and told the Calgary Herald about the difficulties of this season.

"I don't know what's going to happen. This season was a long season as far as trying to get back to full health after knee surgery last year, but I feel good now. I'm going to prepare like I'm going to play and then we will have to make a decision later in the summer."

After considering retirement two years ago, Morrison headed to the Canucks' training camp and was later traded to Calgary before his stint in Chicago--a stint he calls "a little bit disappointing."

During his time with the Canucks and Flames over the past season and a half, Morrison recorded 54 points in 94 games.

He says he'll consider playing for an NHL team next season, but may call it quits this summer instead.
