The Blackhawks agreed to terms with forwards Brandon Bollig and Ben Smith on two-year contracts, and with goaltender Carter Hutton on a one-year deal on Monday. They also released goaltender Alex Salak.
Bollig played in 18 games with the Blackhawks last season, filling the physical, fighting role well after John Scott was dealt to the New York Rangers at the trade deadline.
Smith was up on a few stints with the Blackhawks this season before he was sidelined with season-ending surgery.
Hutton was recalled twice but did not see any NHL action this season.Salak competed with Ray Emery for the backup goaltending job last season before Emery won the job and was signed to a one-year deal.
