DETROIT -- Ray Emery earned the Chicago Blackhawks' backup goaltending job last September. On Saturday, he earned a little more than that.

The Blackhawks agreed to terms with Emery on a one-year contract extension on Saturday. The 29-year-old Emery, who was invited to Chicago on a tryout basis right before training camp began this season, went 15-9-4 this regular season. Emery had a 2.81 goals-against average in 34 games this season. He went 10-0-3 with a 2.15 GAA at the United Center.
