The NHLPA spent this weekend going overand getting more information and clarification on -- the proposal the league sent them on Thursday. Now the two sides will get together again and talk.

The NHL and NHLPA will meet on Monday in New York, as they look to find common ground on a new collective bargaining agreement and end the lockout. When, exactly, the two sides will meet is not known yet.

The league presented the players association with a new proposal last Thursday, a 288-page document that the NHLPA spent the weekend perusing. Now its time for the two sides to talk; it will be the first time the league and PA have met since mid-December, when a second attempt to use federal mediators yielded as much as their first attempt: zip.

But now, time is truly of the essence. If theres going to be hockey the league wants no less than a 48-game season, and that would have to start by mid-January.
