Legal talk dominates Thursday's NHL meeting

Just when you thought you could take the term "disclaimer of interest" out of your lockout vocabulary.

A day after choosing not to exercise its "disclaimer of interest" option during talks with the NHL, the NHLPA is again having players vote to give the executive board the power to file the disclaimer. Nick Kypreos of Sportsnet.ca was the first to report the news. According to various reports, players have 48 hours to vote.

Players overwhelmingly voted to give the NHLPA's executive board the power to file this motion in late December. The NHLPA had until 11:59 Eastern Time on Wednesday to file the disclaimer, but did not.

The NHL and players' association were in negotiation talks past midnight in New York on Wednesday. But with collective-bargaining talks cooling off again on Thursday, legal talk once again dominated.
