Toews in, Saad (likely) out

LOS ANGELES -- Jonathan Toews will play but Brandon Saad is "not likely" to do the same when the Chicago Blackhawks face the Los Angeles Kings.

Toews missed Friday's practice in El Segundo with the flu but coach Joel Quenneville said the Blackhawks captain is feeling better. Quenneville added they'll keep an eye on Toews throughout the game.

"He's fine, he's playing, he's ready to go. We use him in all situations so we'll keep an eye on his minutes and gauge how he's feeling," Quenneville said. "If he gets fatigued we'll cut him back. But hopefully he's ready to go his regular workload."

Saad, meanwhile, who made the team for the second consecutive season, is "not likely" in the lineup, Quenneville said.

The Blackhawks had their Stanley Cup banner-raising ceremony more than two years ago, and today they'll watch the Kings have theirs. The ceremony begins at noon local time (2 p.m. Central), followed by the game at approximately 12:25 p.m. local (2:25 Central).
