SOUTH BEND, Ind. — Notre Dame wide receiver DaVaris Daniels caught the first two touchdowns of his career, but watched from the sidelines for the majority of his team's 28-6 win over Temple on Saturday.
Daniels suffered a mild groin strain early in the second quarter, when he beat his man on a fade toward the end zone but pulled up lame just as the ball fluttered to the ground a few feet from him.
He spent the rest of the game trying to work his tweak out on the sidelines and riding a stationary bike.
Coach Brian Kelly said Daniels could've played, but didn't want to risk it given his team's wide receiver depth.
"We wanted to make sure we did not put him in a position where it could have been worse, and make sure that he's a hundred percent for next week," Kelly said.
Daniels finished with three catches for 69 yards in the game.
