The first preseason polls are out, and Notre Dame is out of the top 10.

In USA Today's preseason coaches poll released Thursday, the Irish rank No. 11. Ahead of Notre Dame are five SEC teams (No. 1 Alabama, No. 5 Georgia, No. 6 Texas A&M, No. 7 South Carolina, No. 10 Florida), two Pac-12 teams (No. 3 Oregon, No. 4 Stanford) and one team from the Big Ten (No. 2 Ohio State), ACC (No. 8 Clemson) and AAC (No. 9 Louisville).

Notre Dame began the 2012 season ranked No. 24 in the coaches poll and finished at No. 3.

Four of Notre Dame's 2013 opponents are ranked: No. 4 Stanford, No. 16 Oklahoma, No. 17 Michigan and No. 24 USC. Notre Dame travels to Stanford (Nov. 30) and Michigan (Sept. 7) while drawing home matchups against Oklahoma (Sept. 28) and USC (Oct. 19).

Week 4 opponent Michigan State received 89 points, third behind Kansas State and Miami among teams receiving votes that missed the top 25 cut. Week 6 opponent Arizona State received 51 points, seventh-most among other teams receiving votes, while BYU received 20 points, 11th-most on the list.
