DePaul's freshman Tommy Hamilton IV and senior Cleveland Melvin have been honored for their performances in the first week of the basketball season.

Hamilton was honored as Big East's Rookie of the Week after averaging 12.3 points and 6.7 rebounds in the first three games of the season. Melvin was also named to the Weekly Honor Roll after averaging 18.7 points and 6.3 rebounds.

Hamilton leads all Big East freshman in scoring and rebounding so far. He became the first Blue Demon to be named Rookie of the Week since Melvin and Brandon Young won the awards for a combined six times during the 2010-2011 season.

Melvin is playing his first season at DePaul as a small forward after playing the post for the previous three. In three games, he has made 20-of-30 shots posting a .667 field goal percentage with 8-of-12 coming from three-point range.

DePaul has started the season 2-1 and will travel to Milwaukee for their next game to take on the Panthers on Tuesday night.
