While the Cubs and White Sox make headlines in Chicago, the Land of Lincoln's most successful baseball team continues to rack up the wins down in Champaign.
Currently on a 21-game winning streak, the Illinois Fighting Illini were ranked as the No. 3 team in the latest Collegiate Baseball top-25 rankings, which were released Monday.
The No. 3 spot in the Collegiate Baseball rankings is Illinois' highest placement among Division-I baseball's bevy of top-25 rankings, but the Illini hold a top-10 spot in all the others posted on the NCAA's website, as well.

The winning streak is an astounding one at 21 straight victories, the longest active win streak in the country and the longest in program history which includes five consecutive series sweeps. The Illini have the highest winning percentage in the NCAA at .862, and the 40 wins already rank seventh on the school's all-time list.
The longest winning streak in D-I this season is a 24-game stretch of victories earlier this season by Texas A&M. The Illini can catch the Aggies with a sixth straight sweep this weekend against Rutgers.
There are six more games remaining in the regular season: three against Rutgers and three against Nebraska. Then comes postseason play at the Big Ten Tournament starting on May 20 in Minneapolis.
