Illinois makes change on coaching staff

After ranking last in the Big Ten in scoring and total offense, Illinois decided it was time to make a change.

Head coach Tim Beckman announced Saturday that co-offensive coordinator and quarterback coach Chris Beatty will not be retained by the university. Beatty shared the offensive coordinator position with Billy Gonzales, whose status going into next season is not yet known.

"Chris Beatty is an outstanding person and a good coach," Beckman said. "His family will always be a part of our Illini football family. I wish him the best as he moves forward with his career."

Beckman is now starting his search for the team's next offensive coordinator.
