SOUTH BEND, Ind. — Jerian Grant had 19 points, eight assists and six steals Sunday to lead Notre Dame to a 93-60 non-conference victory over Army on Sunday.

Garrick Sherman added 19 points and seven rebounds as the Fighting Irish (4-1) forced 22 Army turnovers and held the Black Knights to 5 of 25 shooting from 3-point range.

The Irish, playing their second game in three days following their first loss of the season last Sunday to Indiana State, won their second straight and improved to 9-0 all-time against Army.

Army, which came in averaging nearly 34 3-point attempts per game, missed its first nine 3-pointers before Kyle Wilson finally connected with 14:04 to play.

Sherman scored 10 straight points for the Irish early in the second half to get their lead up to 13. Eric Atkins was just 2-for-13 from the floor before he connected on a 3 with 14:35 left. His second 3 came near the start of an 18-0 Irish burst that put the game away, pushing their lead to 33 points with 3:40 to play. Army did not hit a field goal for over 6 minutes before ending the run.

Loyola edges SIU-Edwardsville, 73-72

PORTLAND, Ore. — Christian Thomas, Jeff White and Matt O'Leary scored 14 points apiece and Loyola edged SIU-Edwardsville, 73-72, at the Portland State Tournament on Sunday.

Loyola shot 57 percent from the field and made 42 percent of 3-point attempts while SIUE shot 51 percent overall and 42 percent from beyond the arc in a game where each team lead by no more than 5 points.

SIUE (1-5) led 35-33 at the half following several lead changes. That trend continued into the second half with Loyola (3-4) calling a timeout while leading 71-70 with 2 minutes left. Both teams missed key shots and free throw opportunities in the intense final minutes, but Devon Turk's lay-up at 1:20 was all Loyola needed to hang on for the win.

Donivine Stewart led the Cougars with 22 points and Michael Messer added 14.
